Mr. Hopper’s Classroom Procedures: DO THE RIGHT THING!
What part of R(espect) A(ccountability) Y(our best effort) S(afety) pertains to each of these?
1. Entering the classroom: Go to your assigned seat and take out all materials you will need for the day’s lesson. On the board, you will see the day’s warm up lesson. Begin this immediately.
2. Leaving the classroom during class time: You will not. Once you enter the classroom, you will not leave unless you are called by the office. You have time between the classes for restroom and water breaks. On the rare occasions where a true emergency exists, you will be allowed to leave once your daily planner has been signed. IAW Emerald Coast Middle School policy, no one is allowed to leave without their planner. Restroom: If you need to use the restroom, before coming to class, fill your planner out. Let me know PRIOR to entering the room that you need to use the restroom. I will initial your planner and you may go.
3. Leaving your desk: You will not. Once you have taken a seat, if for some reason you wish to leave your desk, raise your hand and wait to be recognized.
4. Asking/Answering a question: Raise your hand and quietly wait. I will not recognize anyone who speaks without permission.
5. Sharpening your pencils: Raise your pencil and quietly wait for recognition. I will motion to you to go to the sharpener.
6. Science Notebooks: You will be required to maintain a Science Notebook . This notebook will be divided into 4 sections.
1st Section: Weekly Schedule
2nd Section: Vocabulary words
3rd Section: Special Instructions Project Logs
4th Section: Handouts
This will be inspected and graded. At the end of each chapter, you can remove the notes and any handouts that pertain to that chapter. Remove the old schedules after 2 weeks.
7. Classwork/Homework: IAW 7th Grade policy, only loose leaf paper and pencils and appropriately colored pens will be used for homework and class work. Anything else will not be accepted.
8. Immediate Quiet: If at any time we are not in a normal class setting, (small groups, pairs, outside, etc) when I raise my hand, you will immediately stop what you doing, become quiet, face me and await instruction.
9. Finishing Classwork early: If you finish your classwork early, you may review your previous assignments or read ahead to the next lesson.
10. End of class procedures: You will not leave the room until released by me. Sit quietly, check around your desk for trash and pick it up. Once dismissed, you will get up and walk out the door depositing trash along the way.
11. Hopper Points: I will randomly award 1 point “Sticky notes” to students who are doing the right thing. What exactly is the right thing of the day will change. It is YOUR responsibility to keep up with them. Don’t lose them! You can use up to four of these points at anytime.
